| I can't believe that anyone over there likes OUR cartoons. Probably the worst though out plots, the dumbest characters, and the simplest humor you can think of. There is a lot of them, aren't there...

| Well, these days, yes. But you know - anime was inspired by Disney cartoons. Also, when I think of REAL American cartoons, I think of classics like Buggs Bunny or Foghorn Leghorn. You can't deny those were great.
And I would never turn down one of Disney's animated films. Treasure Planet ~<3

| Yeah, they seem to be made for monkeys these days, not human kids. Though in some cases there isn't much of a difference.
I remember when Cartoon Network had the most epic Saturday lineup. Rurouni Kenshin, G Gundam, Teen Titans, Megas XLR... and then Adult Swim would come on and I had FLCL :3
I miss it so ;-; | |

The fact that they shut down Toonami pissed me of to no ends.

| I've never watched any of it really. But a lot of people I know do, so there must be something good about it. I THINK I want to see what all the fuss is about but I don't know where to start, so if anyone wants to tell me something that's worth watching (that isn't too weird, or creepy, or have lots of little girls wearing short skirts in) then that would be great I can't really say what sort of stuff would interest me because I have no idea. I watched that film about the princess and that was pretty good, oh and the one with all the little spider things and pigs (I can't remember what it's called). I was also forced to watch Naruto and it was rubbish. They took about 3 episodes to do one fight scene o.o So is all anime like that? Because if it is then I don't think I can be bothered with it. Cheers...if anyone answers xD | |

| I'm going to suggest Code Geass, go back to page 1 to read my opinion on that series if you want. Its got something for everyone I think and someone new to anime will have no problem jumping into it. | |

| Lucky Star is horrible. Don't watch it unless you are completely obsessed with Japanese culture, else you won't understand a damn thing.
If you want a humorous anime watch Azumanga Daioh or Hare + Guu. :3

| I've been thinking about how one could take the style of FLCL and use it in a live action style. I got a cool idea for a short film that I think would benefit from using something of the sort. I'm imagining a lot of trippy colors and wild movements. Probably would look strange IRL though -_-; | |

Cheers...if anyone answers xD I'd recommend watching some of the shorter series, ones that last 13-26 episodes. Since they're short, they usually get straight to the point, rather than dragging out the story over 10+ episodes like in Naruto. I personally thought Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu (The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya) was a great series, mainly because it was a tad random but had some sort of plot. Azumanga Daioh is another one of my favorites. It's a "slice of life" series, where they follow around a group of high school girls. It's rather random, considerably more than Suzumiya, but I thought it was enjoyable. If you want something more serious, I enjoyed Eureka 7 and Serial Experiments Lain. Eureka 7 is a Mecha anime (lots of giant robots, in the vein of gundam), mixed in with drama and a love story. Lain was more of a psychological series, I don't remember the details too much since I saw it a couple years back, but I do remember I enjoyed watching it. Ooh, and how could I forget Cowboy Bebop. I think that series introduced a lot of people to the more serious side of anime, since before then all we had was DBZ and Sailor Moon. But yeah, overall I'd suggest watching a short series first rather than jumping on board with one of those mega series with 100+ episodes. I don't really watch that much anime myself, just a series every couple of months or so, and I've always found the shorter series to be more enjoyable. Probably because I want more, but there just isn't anymore left ;~;
